Pfizer Raising the Price of Viagra

Pharmaceutical Corporation Pfizer declared today that they will soon raise the price of the popular erectile dysfunction medicine Viagra to a staggering $300 per pill.
With many different pills on the market, the company’s profits have taken a drastic tumble in recent years. In 2014 the company’s revenue was down $49 billion. Company spokesperson Richard Thicke stated,” there was just no way around the price change. If we want to keep giving guys a raise, we had to raise the prices. Our product ushered in a drastic wave of change in men’s health, and we want to continue to raise the bar. We will continue to seek new ways to give people that extra boost they need to improve their way of life, but in order to do that we have to be a profitable company.”
The price raise comes on the heels of Turing Pharmaceuticals’ CEO raising the price of an old AIDS medication 5000% to $750 per pill. According to the Washington Post, “The medicine, Daraprim, which has been on the market for 62 years, is the standard of care for a food-borne illness called toxoplasmosis caused by a parasite that can severely affect those with compromised immune systems. Turing purchased the rights to the drug last month and almost immediately raised prices.”

Hillary Clinton took to twitter to speak on the matter saying, “Price gouging like this in the specialty drug market is outrageous. Tomorrow I’ll lay out a plan to take it on.”
